40 Hours Experience Record
One of the requirements of registered membership is the completion of 40 hours of related End-of-Life Doula experience, gained through work with clients or practice experiences. These hours are intended to demonstrate the practical application of skills, resources, and knowledge acquired through End- of-Life Doula training, which must be completed prior to applying for membership.
Accepted experience should fall within the scope of End-of-Life Doula work and may include, for example: facilitating conversations about dying, end-of- life planning, Advance Care Planning, providing appropriate resources, sitting vigil, or other forms of non-medical support.
Your 40 hours must demonstrate a range of practice, including at least two distinct services and the use of a minimum of four skills across your documented experiences (these do not need to be four skills per experience). This form is structured to document three experiences; if you have more, you may include additional experiences to reach the required 40 hours.
When completing this section, please focus on your role as an End-of-Life Doula and on the decisions made in context. Not all questions will apply to every experience — “not applicable” is an acceptable response. Brief, clear answers or bullet points are sufficient; we are looking for relevance, reflection, and clarity rather than exhaustive detail.
If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].
