Become an EOLDAC Registered Member

Persons wishing to apply for (or renew) registered membership into the End of Life Doula Association of Canada (EOLDAC) are required to do or provide the following:

• Agree to and sign the EOLDAC Vision, Mission Statement and Scope of Practice
• Complete a recognized End of Life Doula education program* (proof of program completion or program synopsis may be requested by EOLDAC Board and is subject to Board approval)
• Be able to demonstrate competency by updating and submitting additional training every 2 years, as well as engaging with other end of life doulas on a regular basis
• Client (or family of client) references upon request
• A satisfactory criminal record check every 5 years
• A minimum of 40 hours experience in end-of-life care / planning and 3 clients after your education is completed and prior to application, so that you can integrate your doula training into your work.  Some ideas for building up your hours include:
  • doing advance care plans (including family members and friends)
  • providing end-of-life care services (excluding family members and friends)
  • hosting death cafes
  • volunteering at your local hospice, long term care home or hospital in a palliative care setting
  • volunteering at a Helpline
• Keep up-to-date with Government and Health agency policies and the resources those agencies make available, in addition to gaining relevant experience in their field

• Receive a registered member number — some benefits providers cover doula services; if your clients are eligible, they may submit your registration number for reimbursement
• Access to recommended insurance providers
• Voting privileges at the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
• Registered Member fee: $125 per year** (A one-time processing fee of $15 is required for new applicants)

**Note: memberships are for a 12 month term, based on the date that you sign up or renew. Failure to renew will result in removal from the roster and you will no longer be permitted to use the EOLDAC logo.
